Approving, Blocking, Shadowing & Labeling Companies: What It All Means

2 min. readlast update: 06.26.2025

In Stairoids, managing companies isn't just about tracking intent — it’s about teaching the system who really matters to you. You do this by assigning statuses: Approved, Blocked, Shadowed, or a Custom Label.

This article explains what each status means, how it impacts your feed and scoring, and why these actions help Stairoids get smarter.

Approved

“This company fits our ICP. Prioritize their signals.”

What happens:

  • Signals and contacts from the company are scored and prioritized

  • The company appears in your Approved feed

  • Similar companies will be recommended in the future

  • Contacts become actionable (LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Email)

✅ Use this when:
The company clearly matches your ideal customer type — industry, size, engagement level, etc.

🚫 Blocked

“This company is not relevant. Ignore and hide it.”

What happens:

  • The company is removed from all feeds

  • Signals and contacts are suppressed

  • Similar companies are shown less frequently

  • No scoring or task suggestions will be created

✅ Use this when:
The company is outside your market (e.g., a school, competitor, or wrong geography).

🌒 Shadowed (NEW)

“Not a fit right now — but maybe later. Keep it on the radar.”

What happens:

  • The company is kept in a separate Shadowed list

  • Signals are collected silently but deprioritized

  • You won’t get alerts or tasks, but the data is still there

  • Can be re-evaluated and upgraded to Approved later

✅ Use this when:
You're unsure about a company, or it’s not hot yet, but worth monitoring passively.

🏷️ Custom Labels (NEW)

“Add your own tag to group companies your way.”

In addition to Stairoids’ standard statuses, you can now add your own labels. These are great for:

  • Marking distributors, suppliers, or partners

  • Grouping by sales region or team ownership

  • Flagging key accounts, ABM targets, or strategic leads

Labels do not affect scoring or signals — they’re just for internal organization and filtering.

🧠 Why These Actions Matter

Every status you assign helps Stairoids learn what “good” looks like for you. That means:

  • More relevant suggestions

  • Faster identification of hot leads

  • Less noise in your feed

  • Smarter automation over time

The system adapts based on your actions — so don’t skip this step!
