How to Train the System (And What Not to Do)

3 min. readlast update: 06.26.2025

Stairoids is not just a dashboard — it’s a learning system. Every time you interact with the platform, it gets smarter. The more you tell it what matters to you, the more focused, relevant, and accurate your signals and task lists become.

This article explains how to train the system effectively, what to avoid, and how to keep improving your results over time.

🧠 What “Training the System” Means

Stairoids uses real-time behavior to detect buying signals. But to know which signals matter, it relies on you — through clicks, approvals, assignments, and feedback.

Every action you take is feedback to the algorithm.

Done right, training the system helps you:

  • Spot in-market companies faster

  • Identify the right people in the buying unit

  • Eliminate irrelevant signals and noise

  • Improve lead scoring and task accuracy

✅ What You Should Do

1. Approve Companies That Fit Your ICP

Tell the system which companies belong in your target audience. This improves future recommendations and signal weighting.

2. Block Companies That Don’t Belong

Don’t hesitate to block companies that are clearly irrelevant. This keeps your feed clean and your signals sharp.

3. Use Shadowing for “Maybe Later” Accounts

Unsure about a company? Shadow it. Stairoids will monitor it quietly without triggering tasks or alerts.

4. Assign Companies and Contacts

Assignments teach Stairoids which accounts and people are actually being worked on — crucial for smarter prioritization.

5. Use Hearts ❤️ to Tag Key Contacts

This tells Stairoids who you believe matters inside a company. These contacts are used in marketing follow-ups and scoring logic.

6. Create and Use Filters

Filters help you explore different signal combinations and spot patterns. Using filters is a great way to discover “learning moments.”

❌ What You Shouldn’t Do

✖️ Approve Random Companies Just to Test

Avoid approving companies just to see what happens. Every approval affects your scoring model — so only approve real fits.

✖️ Ignore the Feed

If you only passively view the feed without acting (approve, block, assign), the system won’t know what’s relevant to you.

✖️ Skip Onboarding Configuration

Take time during onboarding to set your ICP and filters — it sets the stage for everything that follows.

✖️ Overload the System With Bad Data

Don’t upload CSVs full of outdated or unrelated companies. If in doubt, ask support — we’ll help clean it up.

🔁 How the System Improves Over Time

Stairoids continually adapts to:

  • Your approved and blocked accounts

  • Patterns in your buying unit assignments

  • Contact-level engagement via hearts and tasks

  • ICP filters and tagging

The more you use it — the more it works for you.
