What Is an Intentional Wire Score (IWS)?

3 min. readlast update: 06.26.2025

The Intentional Wire Score (IWS) is one of the most important indicators in Stairoids. It tells you how much buying intent a company or contact is showing — based on real-time digital behavior.

This article explains how the IWS works, where it comes from, and how to use it to prioritize your outreach and campaigns.

🎯 What Is the Intentional Wire Score?

The Intentional Wire Score is a dynamic number that reflects how active and interested a company or contact is — based on the signals they give off.

In short: Higher IWS = More Buying Intent

You’ll see IWS at two levels:

  • Company IWS → Overall score based on all activity from that company

  • Contact IWS → Score based on the individual’s behavior and role

📡 What Influences the IWS?

Stairoids continuously tracks and scores signals across platforms like:

Signal Type Weight in IWS
Website visits High (especially pricing or repeat visits)
LinkedIn profile views Medium to high
Post likes or comments Medium (depends on frequency)
LinkedIn Ads clicks High (paid engagement)
Follower activity Medium
Recency of activity High (newer = stronger signal)

💡 Signals decay over time — if nothing happens for a while, the IWS drops.

🧠 How Is It Calculated?

Each signal has a score value, which increases if:

  • The signal is recent

  • The signal is repeated (e.g. 3 profile views in 5 days)

  • The contact is part of your ICP

  • The signal comes from a hearted contact

The IWS updates automatically and continuously — no manual input required.

🔎 Where to See the IWS

  • In the Activity Feed (for each account or contact)

  • On Company cards and Contact profiles

  • Inside Filters (e.g. “IWS > 100 in last 7 days”)

  • In your Suggested Tasks

You can sort, filter, and trigger actions based on IWS.

📈 How to Use the IWS

Use Case How IWS Helps
Sales prioritization Focus on companies or contacts with IWS > 100
Campaign targeting Retarget contacts with medium-high IWS
ABM programs Filter accounts by IWS + ICP fit
Monitoring pipeline behavior Spot warmups before deals hit the CRM

💡 IWS helps you act before the lead goes “hot” in traditional systems.

❗ Pro Tips

  • Combine IWS with filters like “job title,” “industry,” or “company size” for ultra-targeted outreach

  • Use hearts ❤️ to improve how IWS ranks the right people

  • Keep an eye on IWS trends — rising scores are golden opportunities

✅ Summary

  • IWS = real-time intent score, based on actual behavior

  • Calculated at both company and contact level

  • Updated continuously based on recency and relevance

  • Used to prioritize sales, marketing, and outreach actions
